Sri Lanka Study Tour

Hi Friends, The SL tour was a well organised and well participated activity of the AOE. 29 of us started on 5th morning from Tvpm International Airport. The 45min flight with SL Airhostess & Lion beer was a nice experience. We visited Nuawar Eliya, a 6000 ft hill station, Kandy, an important hill town, Colombo, the Capital City and Nugambo, the beach town and stayed one day each at all these places. The food was sumptuous buffet all three times of day, with huge spread. The terrain is typical Kerala formation and either sides of road are full of coconut trees, mango, jack trees etc. The roads are extremely good, well marked & signed, not even a single pothole seen. 50mm MSS with good bitumen content is seen widely used for renewals. The footpaths and shoulders are taken care well. No seen of a road accident observed. Average rainfall is 1700mm and 137 rainy days. People are law abiding and no signs of poverty experienced. Though men are simillar to us, women differ in dressing, belly and rich boobs. No restriction on liqour, available in super markets. Night clubs, Dance bars and Casinos are popular in Colombo. Almost everything except textile is costlier, Rupee fetches 2.3 SL rupee- tea, Teder coconut at way side stall is Rs 35 and a buffet dinner SL Rs 1500. Attached few snaps, with a SL Newly wedded Sailor & Spouse, the group snap from Kandy Lake after a heavy B fast.,at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and on the return boarding at 4 am near a church illuminaion. My assesment about SL as a nation is improved. We returned on 9th morning to land at 8.20am, back home with pledge on next tour. Hashim.P.A +91 9447114353
